Big and Small: Giving Thanks for It All
Big and Small: Giving Thanks for It All
Albert Einstein famously said, “There are only two ways to live your life. One is as though nothing is a miracle. The other is as though everything is a miracle.” I suppose there was also that whole E=mc² thing that got him some notoriety, as well. But for the purposes of this blog post, I think the subject of miracles relates to the topic of gratitude just a bit more than a jovial chat about mass-energy equivalence.
What I like most about this simple notion from a scientific genius is that it urges us to turn thankfulness into an everyday occurrence, rather than something reserved solely for momentous occasions. Of course, we are overwhelmed with gratitude for the opportunity to see our company flourish after bringing it to Scottsdale from overseas nearly three years ago. But Victoria and I have also been known to do a happy dance over the fact that we can procure a lovely caffeinated beverage each morning at a certain Seattle-based establishment on our way to tend to said company.
So, at the risk of sounding – as my lovely wife put it, “slushy” – I am willing to risk venturing into Hallmark movie territory in order to express my deep appreciation for this incredible life we’ve made here in the states, and the moments – both major and minor – that it’s composed of.
In no particular order, here are some of the many things Victoria and I are giving thanks for this season:
- The wonderful friends who welcomed us to this country with open arms (and a makeshift dog park).
- The trust that our treasured clients have placed in us and our work.
- The honour of assembling and working with an elite team of true professionals.
- Living in the beautiful, sunny Sonoran Desert…and somehow managing to (sometimes narrowly) escape scorpion stings and snake bites.
- Our two quirky pups – Purdey and Princess Pippa – who provide both constant comic relief and stellar executive advice (they made us put that last part in).
As this year draws to a close, we will continue to marvel at the gifts we’ve been given, and eagerly anticipate continued adventures to come in 2020.
Wishing you and yours a warm and happy holiday from Team C&C!
